1995 Erfurt High Speed Train Station – OCEAN

International Design Competition

Project Team: Michael Hensel (Project Coordination), Bostjan Vuga, Tom Verebes, Eunsook Choi

The proposal for the new ICE high-speed rail-link and commercial zone for Erfurt seeks to set out a critical mass and density of activity to serve as a regional node and a recognizable node along the high-speed rail-link.

The station itself is characterized by the bar buildings and the island building, diagonal voids linked with the mall activities, and small scale tectonic and programmatic elements that direct movement and link the station to the adjacent areas.
