2016Performative Envelopes master-level design studio @ Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Research Centre for Architecture and Tectonics & Advanced Computational Design Laboratory
The Performative Envelopes Studio focused on the design of adaptive tectonic systems that can be configured to meet changing uses and changing site conditions. The task was to demonstrate the adaptability of the system first on the example of a pavilion for the Oslo Architectural Triennial in Oslo, subsequently to be transformed into a research facility for monitoring polluted landfill on Langøya Island in the Oslo fjord.
The studio made extensive use of physical modelling to test environmental performance using a range of sensors and Arduino technology, as well as virtual reality utilising Unreal Engine to evaluate and inform the design development.
